GATIDHARA - Financial assistance for purchasing small vehicle towards self-employment

About Gatidhara Scheme:-

          The West Bengal Government launched the Gatidhara scheme in August 2014. The Gatidhara scheme was outlined by the Finance Minister in the budget in February. The families with a monthly income of Rs 25,000 or less would qualify for financial support under the scheme. The transport department will interview applicants and draw up a list of eligible candidates. The labour department would provide the money, but the scheme would be implemented by the transport department. The objective of the scheme is to generate self-employment in the urban and rural areas of the district through promotion of transportation services.

Gatidhara Scheme Highlights:

* Unemployed youth between 20 and 45 yrs (upto 48 yrs for OBC and 50 yrs for ST/SC)
* Registered in employment bank; else register at
Employment Bank
* Monthly family income less than 25,000
* Will get upto 30 % of vehicle cost (upto Rs. 1,00,000) as subsidy
* Preference in getting permits
